The Isle of Wight Steam Railway
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is a great day out and gives you the freedom to ride the railway all day on one ticket! The railway may only cover 5 miles and 4 stations but it's a great excursion.
Starting off from Smallbrook station which is where the islands two railway neworks meet up. The next station is in Ashey which is a request stop, an ideal place for a countryside stroll.
Then it's on to Havenstreet which is the railways focal point. The platform and station buildings were originally built in 1926. It's here that you will also find the well stocked souvenier shop. Don't avoid the gift shop as it also has doors out to the railways museum and workshops which give you an insight as to how it all works.
